Choosing The Right Supplement For You

Of course, the best way to obtain all of your nutrients is to eat a healthy diet.  However, food nutrients have literally been leached from raw foods.  To the average American organic foods are a thing of the past.  Under the best of circumstances the ingredients in organic food produce, (vitamins and minerals) have to go  through a series of changes in order to make it all the way through your digestive tract to eventually be absorbed into your blood stream and then directed to the location where your body can use them.  However, before this can happen, your body must get ride of all the toxic substances put in by growers trying to produce eatable food.

Let's look at some factors that can affect the journey your food and supplements you take, and tell how well your body can assimilate those nutrients.  There is a good way that you can know if the vitamins you are taking are right for you, and that’s in the way you feel shortly after taking them. 

For example, do you feel that you have more energy?  Does that particular supplement give you indigestion?  Does this happen with all supplements you take?  This will take some of guess work out of your ability to recognize these subtle changes.  Another example: After eating a heavy protein meal, do you feel sluggish; with burping and indigestion?  This is a good indication that your system is having trouble breaking down protein.  If this breakdown process does not take place then your body's ability to absorb nutrients is greatly impaired, and calls for a complex enzyme formula.

1. Part of Wellness is to learn about the specific nutrients and the ingredients in any supplement before you take it.
That’s not so difficult.  Make the term “One-A-Day” mean more than taking a single pill in hope that it will solve all your problems.

2. Consult with your Alternative Health Practitioner or qualified nutritionist for specific advice, especially if you have a medical condition or if you are on medication.  Write to "The Coach" we will be glad to answer any questions you have.  Be suspicious if your doctor tells you that “Vitamin supplements are unnecessary”, or that taking vitamins will produce nothing except expensive “pee”.  He or she does not think your health is an important issue.  Seek out a qualified Health Practitioner that are open to health alternatives.  Eating a healthy diet is possible with a little planning.  While no diet is perfect for everyone, there are several steps you can take to determine what works for you.

Caution.  Do not make yourself crazy trying every recommended diet plan. 


One Bite At A Time

You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their Oreos one bite at a time.  Just like them, you lack imagination, but that's ok, not to worry, you're normal.


Spiritual Motivator - "Lord, what kind of day will I have to look forward too?  The Lord said it will be whatever you make of what I have for you to do.  If you so choose your most difficult challenges will make you stronger.  And, if you so choose your disappointments can make you more determined." Philippians 4:6-8

First of all, God did the hard part. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. The weight of our sins would have been enough to crush us, but that has been dealt with, thanks to Jesus.

If that alone isn’t enough to motivate you, there’s more. When Jesus ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God, He sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to enable us to live a godly life:

You however are controlled not by the sinful nature, but by the Spirit ...
(Romans 8:9).

Paul says that Christ dwelled in Him through the Holy Spirit. This indwelling of God's Spirit enables us to be faithful and fruitful. Christ's Spirit is imparted to us and becomes part of our mind. If we generated the faith necessary to obey God, it would be self-righteous. Our righteousness must come through the faith of Jesus Christ that He is all we need.

 



Learn About Medicinal Foods and Herbs from the Bible - These are the same herbs that are used to day.  In each issue of this Newsletter we will introduce three or four herbs that were used in Biblical times with scriptural references.

Aloe (Aquilari agalloche) is believed to be the only tree descended to man from the Garden of Eden.  (Numbers 24:6) Like valleys that stretch afar, like gardens beside a river, like aloes that the Lord has planted, like cedar trees beside the waters.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) is referenced several times in the Old Testament. (Exodus 16:31) Now the house of Israel called its name manna; it was like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.  This herb was believed to have a variety of medicinal uses and was thought to alleviate abdominal pains.  Today the only medicinal use of coriander is as flavoring for certain prescription medicines to mask their taste and odor.

Garlic (Allium sativum) is mentioned only once in the Bible.  It was held in great esteem by the ancient Egyptians.

(Numbers 11:5) "We remember the fish we ate in Egypt for nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic."  It is a diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, and stimulant.  Many marvelous effects and healing powers have been ascribed to Garlic.  It possesses stimulant and stomachic properties in addition to its other virtues.
